How soon can I take a
pregnancy test?
The hormone (hCG) is present once the fertilized egg is implanted in the uterus and can be detected as early as 12 to 14 days after sex. When you take a pregnancy test at one of our locations, you’ll have your results immediately.
I’ve already taken a
pregnancy test at home.
The only way to know for sure if you are pregnant is to take a pregnancy test. The best time to take a test is after you’ve already missed your period.
When you come to Alternatives, you’ll find a safe, confidential place to take a free pregnancy test to confirm or rule out a pregnancy. We offer a medical-grade urine pregnancy test that provides accurate results so you can have the information you need to take the next step.
I’m having mixed feelings about my pregnancy. What should I do?
Start by taking a minute to breathe and when you’re ready, reach out. You have options and our trained team of caring staff and Advisors are here to help you. We provide a safe, non-judgmental place for you to talk about your concerns and learn about all of your pregnancy options. You don’t need to struggle through this alone, we are here to help.
I’ve confirmed I’m pregnant. Now what’s next?
Your next step is to have an ultrasound that will provide important information about your pregnancy. You can receive a free ultrasound at Alternatives once we have confirmed a positive pregnancy result at your initial visit. An ultrasound appointment will be offered to you, provided by a physician or a certified Sonographer (link to our ultrasound page). The ultrasound we provide will confirm an intrauterine pregnancy, check fetal heartbeat, determine gestational age, and estimate a due date. We can also help you understand all of the stages of fetal development.
Please note: Alternatives is not meant to replace care from an OB/GYN. Ultrasounds are not provided to determine gender or for other diagnostic purposes, and we typically do not provide ultrasounds to patients who are already being seen by an OB.
